India has launched its first free condom store. Called Love Condoms, this is also the first free condom store in world. Earlier this month, Parliament had passed the HIV and AIDS(Prevention and Control Bill), which provides for the prevention and control of the disease and protection of human rights of those who are affected by the disease. Health Minister JP Nadda had said, “The government will provide free treatment to all the people battling with HIV and AIDS and we will soon come up with a new test and treat policy for all those you are living with HIV and AIDS.”
Notably, a few days later on April 26, AIDS Healthcare Foundation, a global charity introduced Free Condom Store in India. Love Condoms, which is India’s first condom store and is also the first free condom store in world. The store has been launched with a motive to reduce cases of HIV/AIDS in India. Do you know India has world’s third highest number of HIV cases – with 2.1 million people affected by the disease? Well, condoms are the most effective and cheapest way to prevent infection of HIV, but people here in India lack awareness. The majority people feel shy when it comes to asking for a condom.
