Christmas is the time for hectic chores and painstaking processes. There are traditional things which need to be accurate and precise and have to be done in a specific manner. But we can sometimes, use some hacks or tricks to make Christmas simpler.

Here are some hacks, which can make your Christmas relaxed and merry!

 

1. Use Party cups to assort and store the Christmas decorations.Most of the time, when we take out the decorations, we see that many baubles have shattered and the holly has been eaten by a moth or have acquired a mossy smell.

This can easily be solved. If you put all the decorations in unused Christmas party cups and organize it in a container and put all the decorations inside them, they won’t break under pressure. If you put Silica gel and/or moth balls, it would not let the holly dampen.

 

2. Save your Christmas lights from untangling, by wrapping them in a cloth hanger. This will help in saving those delicate lights, which get fused during the untangling.

3. The most convenient and emergency gift wrap!If you have to go on a Christmas party, and you realize that you are out of gift wrap, here is a handy tip. Cut out a Family pack of cookies, chips etc., and wash it thoroughly. Pat it dry and then turn it inside out. Now place your gift inside the pack and tie it with a ribbon. If ribbon is not available, cut out the rim of the same packet, and you get the ribbon! Not tie the gift with the ribbon. Your gift is ready!

 

4. Crush the candy canes and mix it with whipped cream and mould it in the ice cube moulds or cookie cutter. You can take it out and use it in normal hot drinks like eggnogs, coffee and hot chocolate to make it Christmassy!

5. One of the cheapest DIY ideas is to gift a homemade scented candle! All you need is some old wax sticks/used candles, a cotton wick/ a long twine, some cocoa butter/vanilla essence/tee tree oil/ lemon grass essence or any essential oil that you may have if none of them are available, you can use freshly ground coffee powder as well. You can use lemon peel/coffee beans/ vanilla pod or oil based paint to make the candle look attractive.

Melt all the wax in an old discarded bowl. Pour the essence in the molten wax after taking the bowl, off the heat. Put the use lemon peel/coffee beans/ vanilla pod or oil based paint and mix it well. Next, dip the twine/wick in the wax and then quickly place the wick in a buttered shot-glass. Keeping the wick in the middle, slowly pour the wax starting from the edges towards the centre. This will make sure that there are no bubbles.

 

After all the wax is poured, knock the glass to make sure that there are no bubbles remaining. Cover it and let it set for 4-5 hours. After 4-5 hours, take the candle out of the shot glass carefully, using a pin to clear the rim. You can leave the candle in the shot glass too. You have a brilliant scented gift for Christmas, without any extra cost.

 

6. Pile up chocolate bars and tie then with two candy canes to make them look like Sleighs. It can be used as a great gift for children.

7. Colour your Halloween pumpkins white, to make a snowman!Colour those Jack-O-Lanterns to makesnowmen. Put the carrot in the nose of Jack-O-Lantern to make the Jack-O-Snowman. You can also colour, the snowman in pink and white to look like a candy cane snowman!

 

8. Instant Christmas cookies Crush the cookies and mix it with fondant and cocoa/chocolate chips. Make two lumps of it put white colouring in one and pink in the other. You can give the dough to the kids to cut them in shapes. Add frosting or warm cream. Voila! Your instant Christmas cookies are ready!

9. Sugar coated Fudge!Cut chocolate fudge through cookie cutters and put some white sugar in a pan and put it in a tumbler-full of water and let it melt. Put some food colour and cream and mix. Dip the fudge in the syrup and freeze. Your frosted brownies are great companions for short pangs of hunger and hot chocolate parties. (Tip: You can also mix some powdered candy cane or peppermint candy with the white sugar and melt it, to make the sugar syrup)

10. Make cup/mug cozy! Cut out the leg part of that lone woolen Christmas sock whose pair you are unable to find. Fold its edges inside and put it on your mug/cup. Your cup/mug cozy, is ready.
