After revealing the automated swivel camera featured phone, the OPPO N3 , the China based mobile manufacturer revealed the OPPO R5. The first 64 Bit phone by the company, the Oppo R5 measuring just 4.85mm in thickness is being tagged as the ‘Thinnest Smartphone in the World’. The manufacturer has managed to shave a major chunk of thickness, from 6.3mm when compared to the Oppo R3 which was released in July earlier this year.

The frame of the phone is made of a hand polished 3D- welded aluminum alloy. The phone is on the taller side being 148.9mm tall and 74.5mm wide and weighing 155 g.

The R5 is powered by a Snapdragon 615, Qualcomm’s mid range Octa-Core chipset. It features an octa-core Cortex-A53 processor at 1.5GHz, which is paired with an Adreno 405 GPU and 2GB RAM.

The Oppo R5 features a 13 MP rear camera with a Sony IMX214 Sensor and an f/2.0 aperture, and a front camera of 5.0 MP. The camera can record 2160p videos at 30 fps, 1080p videos at 60fps and also features a 120fps slow motion recording mode at 720p.

The phone packs a 2000mH Li-Polymer battery despite its thin form factor, which is quick to charge up with the help of Oppo’s VOOC mini rapid charge tech support. The VOOC mini rapid charge can charge the battery up to 75% in just 30 minutes. On the connectivity side, the phone supports WiFi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, and supports networks from 2G GPRS to TDD/FDD LTE(Even Indian 4G networks).

The one drawback of the Oppo R5 is the lack of a 3.5mm audio jack. This is probably because of the thin size of the phone due to which you either have to use the micro-USB to audio jack adapter which is included in the box or a wireless O-Music accessory.

The Oppo R5 is expected to be released in the country somewhere around December( rumored) and will be priced at $499 . An official price for India has not been confirmed yet.
