Mumbai Airport’s 6-Hour Closure for Essential Maintenance Amidst Remarkable Passenger Growth Ensures Safety and Infrastructure Standards
Mumbai International Airport, also known as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), will suspend flight operations for six hours from 11 am to 5 pm for post-monsoon maintenance on its two runways. This temporary closure is part of CSMIA’s annual post-monsoon maintenance plan, ensuring infrastructure standards and passenger safety. The Mumbai airport handles nearly 900 daily flights.

Airport Maintenance and Growth
The closure aims to conduct essential repair and maintenance activities, upholding infrastructure standards. CSMIA emphasizes passenger safety and operational continuity, with precise scheduling to minimize disruption. Passenger traffic at the airport recorded substantial growth, with a 33% increase to 1.27 crore in the September quarter compared to pre-pandemic levels (Q3CY2019). Domestic and international air traffic movements also saw significant numbers during this period.
