The normal onset date of monsoon in India is June 1, which marks its official arrival in the country.

Notably, monsoon usually hit North East few days later, after its onset over Kerala but it happened because of Cyclone Mora, which aided the advancement of seasonal rainfall.

According to reports, Mora is set to intensify into a severe cyclone and will make landfall near Chittagong in eastern Bangladesh around forenoon today. As per reports, a heavy rain alert has been issued for many parts of North East in the wake of storm for Tuesday and Wednesday.

Notably, a warning has also been issued to fishermen not to venture into the sea off West Bengal and Andaman and Nicobar islands.
