Akhilesh Yadav, the UP chief minister along with his father and Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav will be inaugurating country’s longest 6-lane Greenfield Agra-Lucknow expressway at Bangarmau, situated in the Unnao district on Monday. Notably, it will be the India’s longest expressway.

While telling the details of the project to the media persons, a state government spokesman has said that 302-km six-lane Expressway, which is expandable to 8-lane will start from Agra to reach Lucknow via Firozabad, Mainpuri, Oraia, Etawah, Kannauj, Hardoi,Kanpur Nagar and Unnao.

It would further reduce the travel time between Agra and Lucknow to around three and half hours and further between Lucknow and Delhi to around 5-6 hours, less than half the time it takes now and would also further save the fuel consumption considerably, he added.

This expressway has been constructed in a record time of 23 months, this prestigious world class Rs 13,200-crore project would become be operational for the public in the month of December. According to the state government spokesman, a three-km strip has been built on the expressway to be used by Indian Air Force fighter planes for the emergency landing during the war time.

Expressway spread across 232 villages of 10 districts

The land for this expansive of the 3,500-hectare project of Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA), spread over 232 villages of 10 districts, was further acquired amicably by the state government with a mutual consent of over 30,000 farmers, said the spokesman.

Apart from the extra special farm mandis situated in Mainpuri and Kannuaj, smart city, logistic park and a film city are also proposed along the Expressway. Moreover, after being operational, this project will give a fillip to industries like agriculture, handicrafts, tourism and milk, thereby, increasing the job prospects for the youth immensely.

In order to create a green belt on both the sides of the expressway, over three lakh plants were being planted, said a state government spokesman.
