The Indian army is on a hot chase of the Manipuri insurgents, who killed six Assam Rifles personnel, including a junior commissioned officer (JCO) on May 22 in Chandel district of Manipur.
The army has planned surgical strike at the highest level, and has been carried out resulting in the killing of insurgents and destruction of their camps along the Indo-Myanmar border.
The entire action is yet to be completed.The army faced a deadly attack, similar to the one in June last year.
A senior officer termed the action as “a massive trace-and-hunt operation to avenge the killing of the solders.”
Manipur ambush
On May 25, Army chief General Dalbir Singh Suhag, along with Eastern Army Commander Lieutenant General Praveen Bakshi visited the attack site and 29 Assam Rifles. He was briefed about the incident which killed six army personnel and how they are planning to take action on the insurgents.
The Army Chief stressed on the need to carry out relentless operations against the insurgents present in the region.
Different insurgent groups such as People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak, United National Liberation Front and United Peoples Party of Kangleipak and many others claimed responsibility of the action.
