Delhi stuck in heavy traffic, amid heavy rainfall

The national capital had to suffer due to heavy traffic as the rain lashed the city this morning, which had caused water logging in several areas.

South Delhi had been the worst area stuck with several traffic congestion at the stretch between IIT-Delhi and Munirka, Chirag Delhi, Moti Bagh, Modi Mill, Saket, South Extension, Aiims, Moolchand, Yusuf Sarai, Lodhi Road, Jasola, Andrews Ganj, Nehru Place and Greater Kailash.

Moreover, adding to these civil agencies has traded the charges in the blame game over the desiting of drains, when a similar situation has been witnessed on the Saturday morning.

Water stagnated were mostly seen in the mouths of flyovers, low-lying areas, underpasses giving the commuters, especially office goers, a harrowing team in the peak morning hours.

Long tailbacks were also witnessed in and around Pusa Road, Mundka, Janpath, Anand Parbat, Naraina, Mayapuri, Najafgarh, Zakhira Flyover, Wazirabad, Badarpur border, Okhla, Palam Flyover, Sectors 6 and 7 of Dwarka sub-city, and Peeragarhi.

The Gurgaon-Dhaulakuan route has also witnessed a choc-a-block situation as a tree had fallen on the road, blocking one carriageway, while the heavy rains and a bus breakdown has also disrupted traffic on the other, a traffic official said.
