Fear of Change is extremely common, but sometimes it can be more harmful than doing good. So, why do you fear change? And how to overcome it? Read to find out more!

Do you have a Fear of Change? This might be why!

Well, the fear of change is not uncommon. Not everyone is okay with change and that is okay. However, understanding the reason for this fear of change and resolving it is very important to move forward. This is because change is a part of life and things around us will not always stay the same, but being okay with it is the real challenge. So, how do you do it? How do you become okay with change? Let’s find out!

  1. Along with change, there is also a lot of uncertainty, and it is this uncertainty that can be intimidating for you. When people feel that they cannot predict or control the outcomes of change, it makes them feel change itself.

How to resolve this? To overcome the fear of uncertainty, the best way is to gather as much information as you can about the possible event and plan. Create a vision of what it might result in, but also prepare yourself to not have that control.

  1. The loss of control is another reason why people feel change, especially when they become extremely comfortable with their current situation.

The resolution for this is to accept that some life changes are beyond your control. Knowing this and knowing that you cannot change a lot of things in life is crucial you must accept change instead of fearing it.

  1. Comfort zone- Sometimes people tend to stay in their comfort zones not only because it is safe and familiar, but because being out of their comfort zone can cause them anxiety.

The resolution for this is going in small steps. Instead of directly jumping into a situation that is outside your comfort zone and will give you a lot of anxiety, you can take a step by step to expose yourself to small changes. The more you do this, the more it will help you become adaptable over time.

  1. The fear of failure- Change often involves risks and there is an element of failure. This fear of failure can be paralyzing and as people worry that they won’t succeed in the new situation, they opt to not try for any changes.

The resolution for this is understanding that failure is a part of life. Your failure should become a learning experience rather than a fearing experience.

  1. Change can involve loss and grief and leaving behind something that you value. This feeling of loss and grief often converts you into someone who does not want to change resolution. Acknowledging your feelings of loss and allowing yourself to grieve is an important part of change. Also, actively seeking support from people who can be with you in this journey or help you navigate these emotions is very important.
