Jitendra’s Involvement in Meghalaya Honeymoon Murder Sparks Hawala Suspicion
With fresh information coming to light virtually daily as the Meghalaya honeymoon murder investigation heats up a new name – Jitendra Raghuvanshi – has surfaced completely changing the course of the case.
Thus far the Meghalaya Police have arrested five people in connection with the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi: his wife Sonam Raghuvanshi, her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha and three men known as Vishal Chauhan Akash Rajput and Anand Kurmi. Following their transport to Meghalaya the five defendants were remanded to eight days of police custody on Wednesday.
Who is Jitendra Raghuvanshi?
Sonam Raghuvanshi is accused of using Jitendra Raghuvanshis account to make the first payments to the hitmen hired to kill Raja Raghuvanshi on May 23.
Sonam’s brother Govind told the media on Wednesday that Jitendra Raghuvanshi was his cousin when they asked him who he was. Govind also mentioned that Jitendra’s name was used to open Sonam’s UPI account. However as previously reported by Hindustan Times he did not clarify why it was not opened in her name.
Her family’s business was reportedly under investigation for suspected hawala ties after Jitendras name surfaced during the investigation raising suspicions that Sonam had made the transactions via the hawala route.
Govind however denied the allegations stating that Jitendra was a junior worker at their family business as well and that their money was in his account and was utilized for routine transactions.
We don’t need to take any action regarding Hawala. Stories that aren’t true are being created. My maternal cousin Jitendra Raghuvanshi whose name keeps coming up is a junior worker in our family business who handles loading and unloading in the godown. According to Govind the account in his name actually contains that money of ours which is spent on taking care of the day-to-day expenditure of the business.
Sonam’s Brother Offers Raja Raghuvanshi Family Support
During his Tuesday visit to Sonam’s in-laws in Indore Govind offered consolation to the bereaved family. Additionally he expressed regret for his sister’s alleged role in Raja’s murder.
Govind also stated that he thought Sonam was responsible for the killing. In the brief two minutes I spent with Sonam in Ghazipur I asked her a lot of questions. He stated I realized she had committed the crime based on her reactions alone.
In addition Govind stated that his family has severed all connections with Sonam and promised to support Raja Raghuvanshi’s family in their pursuit of justice.
