The increasing animosity between India and Pakistan is having a dark impact on IPL 2025, with high reports of Australian players being concerned about their safety. This increased concern is after having had meaningful cross border activity and retaliations between the two nations.

As per a report in Sydney Morning Herald, many player agents who spoke on the condition of anonymity have had expressed an increasing unease within the Australian contingent, fro the IPL. A lot of players, especially those who are located nearer to the vulnerable border zones, are allegedly eager to leave India as fast as possible. This anxiety has unleashed both Cricket Australia (CA) and the Australian Cricketers’ Association (ACA) into an active vigilance of situation and assiduous contact with their players and support staff in India.

Now there’s a massive IPL 2025 being played from Australia, and the players like Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Travis Head are among them.

Apart from that, Australian coaches Ricky Ponting and Brad Haddin also belong to different IPL franchises. The welfare of these players is now front and centre for both their national cricket board and player association. To the apprehenseful mood, well known Australian cricket podcasters, Sam Perry and Ian Higgins, who cover “The Grade Cricketer,” are reported having ended their tour of India and are heading back to Melbourne. They blamed safety concerns for their sudden exit. The duo has been connecting with Indian fans via live shows but the duo would rather focus on their security in the current geopolitical climate.

The evolving situation and the concerns raised have been taken on board by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). According to IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal the board is examining circumstances and any rules for future of tournament will be in safety and interests of all stakeholders involved in mind.

The news of the recent game of Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamsala being called off during the match has been associated with the reports of the air raid alerts and prevailing security issues in some other cities of the region that has done no good to alleviate the uneasiness.

Even though the statements from the BCCI have been stressing the players’ safety and security, the reactions of unrest and the exit of “The Grade Cricketer” podcasters are hinting at the other side of the coin. The matter is still developing, and Cricket Australia is getting guidance from the Australian Government, the BCCI, and local authorities in order to protect their players, have given a short break to the IPL Matches.
