IPL 2025 Resumes May 17: BCCI Revises Schedule, Full Match List Released
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirms the rescheduled schedule of the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. The tournament resumes after a week-long suspension following heightened tensions across boarders between India and Pakistan, on Saturday May 17, 2025.
After a short suspension, IPL 2025 will continue on May 17 with Royal Challengers Bangalore playing Kolkata Knight Riders in Bengaluru. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has issued a revised schedule with a total of 17 matches, across six venues in Bengaluru, Jaipur, Delhi, Lucknow, Mumbai and Ahmedabad. There are two doubleheaders planned for Sundays, May 18, and May 25. There will be no remaining league matches in Chennai and Hyderabad, and Punjab Kings will play in Jaipur. The playoff venues are yet to be finalized, but the final will be played on June 3. The BCCI acknowledged the efforts of the armed forces in allowing the season to continue.
The opening match after resumption will belong to flames when Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) collide with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru at 7:30 PM IST.
17 matches are set for play at six venues. Bengaluru, Jaipur, Delhi, Lucknow, Mumbai and Ahmedabad. The new schedule will have two double-headers, both Sunday games on the 18th and 25th of May. Notably the rest of the league matches will not be played in the cities of Chennai and Hyderabad. Punjab Kings will play at home in Jaipur instead of Mohali or Dharamshala. Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s final league encounter has been rescheduled to Lucknow.
Playoff matches (Qualifier 1, Eliminator and Qualifier 2) and final venues (3rd June) are still to be declared. The BCCI pays homage to the efforts of India’s armed forces by saying their strength and bravery have made the safe resumption of the cricket league possible. They repeated their dedication to national interest whilst ensuring the current IPL 2025 season is completed successfully.

This amended schedule sets the tone for an exciting end to the IPL 2025 in which several other teams are competing for playoff spots. The rescheduling will too pose logistical problems to some international players and their availability for other matches could be compromised as they have other prior engagements or could clash with international fixtures. Cricket Australia has said they will guide players in their personal decisions on a return to India.
