India on alert over secret Pakistan-Bangladesh air force deal
As per recent reports, Pakistan is seeking Bangladesh to collaborate in military with probable defense agreement targeting air warfare availability. This involves transferring the drone-warfare technology and the development of a tactical airdata-link system which is an encrypted communications network that links aircrafts, naval and ground forces in real time
Bangladesh has also shown interest in buying as many as 32 Pakistan-China JF-17 thunder fighter aircraft and top defense officials of Bangladesh have visited Pakistan and met the Air Chief Marshal to discuss possibilities of joint training and technical exchanges
India followed it with vigilance-
New Delhi has also publicly said it is vigilant over all these developments as it will act accordingly in case .Indian agencies are alleged to have increased their surveillance along the east frontier particularly following the introduction of drones by Bangladesh, namely Turkish Bayraktar TB2 to the region- causing Indian suspicion with regard to potentials of their ISR operations being undertaken just next to India airspace.
Intelligence Coup ISI Visits Dhaka-
In late January 2025, high-level officials (including the Director-General of Analysis) of Pakistan visited Dhaka in a reported bid to set up a body of intelligence agreement between Pakistan and the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI) of Bangladesh.
It is the first such visit in decades and can be seen as a major step to the enhancement of stronger strategic ties, which to India, poses a huge potential threat to instability in its northeast region .
Regional Consequences and Flashpoints across the Borders
The changing Pakistan Bangladesh alliance is regarded as a strategic shift against India. Analysts caution that it may also have the ability to form a China-based military alliance in South Asia, and strengthen the hold of Islamabad on Dhaka .
Particularly worrying is the action occurring in the Siliguri Corridor, also referred to as “Chicken’s Neck of India” as this is the land linkage that has the northeastern states connected to the rest of the country. It is a very sensitive place that Pakistani leaders are said to be taken near by during their visits to Bangladesh.

Furthermore, Bangladesh has used armed drones near the border prompting India’s security apparatus to enhance check on them as they perceive them to be asymmetric threats and to potentially spy on them.
Strategic Outlook & Possible Responses-
• India is likely to ramp up aerial and border monitoring in NF and adjust its defense posture around Bangladesh.
• New Delhi may scale up counter-intelligence operations, with focus on extradition of possible Pakistani affiliates, and to mitigate arms/trade flow with Bangladesh.
• Diplomatic engagement with India’s neighboring states: Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and Myanmay could expand to have a wider regional security cushion.
The intelligence leak about Pakistan wanting to transfer equipment and conduct air force cooperation with Bangladesh has caused India to raise its security alerts. India is concerned about recent high-level ISI involvement in Dhaka, and potential use of aircraft and surveillance of drone along borderland areas. Therefore, Delhi is cognizant of the situation and is revising its security posture in its eastern theater.
