Dee Snider Trades LA Chaos for North Carolina’s Peaceful Family Life

Frontman of Twisted Sister, Dee Snider, has apparently left the fast-paced lifestyle of the capital, Los Angeles, and has chosen the quieter environment of North Carolina, a recent report has said. Snider and his family have moved to Oak Ridge, North Carolina with hopes of a kinder life.

Known for his iconic role in an 80s heavy metal band Twisted Sister, Snider confessed that the idea to move people’s is a family one. His grown up children, who were all working in the entertainment world in Los Angeles began the conversation that they were going to exit the big city and the pressures of the “rat race”. The family dreamed of somewhere that they could live and set up a family production company that focused on movies.

The quest for the best place covered from the West Coast to the East Coast. According to Snider, his “very spiritual” family consulted astrological charts, which suddenly pointed to the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina. Although this was not the only reason that drove them to make this choice, the area also provided a pleasant lifestyle with attractive incentives to film making.

Ultimately it was the welcoming nature of the people in North Carolina that sealed the deal for Snider and his family. He described how the locals were really kind and hospitable not only to him but also to his family when they visited. This close sense of community made them feel North Carolina was the right place to call home.

Snider, married to Suzette Snider, have four grown children and six grandchildren all who have joined him in North Carolina. He humorously called himself a “Tar Heel baby” and said he was going to stay in the state forever, joking about being buried by an oak tree in his yard.

Since moving to Oak Ridge, Snider has welcomed the slower pace of life. He said he is enjoying being able to ride his motorcycle on the open road and ride his bike on local trails, even after suffering a minor wreck recently.

It is a big shift for the rock star, who spent 10 years in Los Angeles. His choice to embrace a more rural lifestyle in North Carolina speaks to his desire for a different lifestyle shift, involving family and new creative efforts in filmmaking.
