Actor Lalit Manchanda Dies By Suicide in Meerut Amid Suspected Financial Woes

The entertainment world grieves as actor Lalit Manchanda’s unfortunate news comes through regarding his straight suicide in his residence at Meerut. At the time of his death, the actor was just 48 years old and had made a name for himself appearing in several popular television shows such as “Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah,” “CID,” and “Crime Patrol,” whose loved ones and friends will mourn him for the void left behind by his death on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, also leaving a big void in the hearts of fans. Preliminary police investigations reveal that financial problems and possible depression might have driven him to take this last sad step.

Lalit Manchanda was a member of the Cine & TV Artistes’ Association since the year 2012. Deep sorrow was expressed in a statement released by the association as it mourned the loss of this valued member of the fraternity. No suicide note was reportedly found at the scene; however, preliminary investigations to family members suggested that the actor has been having some presenting huge financial troubles recently. Sources say that Manchanda shifted back to Meerut from Mumbai about six months prior to his death, probably to take a break from the working and financial pressures of the city.

Manchanda, carving a niche for himself in the television landscape, would most often be cast in supporting but notable roles in series that run the long mile and are widely viewed upon. Just imagine millions of people viewing him courtesy of “Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah” and then seeing him doing crime-based shows like “CID” and “Crime Patrol.” He was also cast as a father in DD National’s “Sevanchal Ki Premkatha.” Just before his death, Manchanda was reportedly involved in a web series project, indicating his ongoing pursuits of passion for acting.

Colleagues and friends will remember him as kind and gentle, which makes his sudden departure more heartbreaking. Shockwaves have also been sent across the ranks of the television fraternity with the news of his death. The nature of his suicide coupled with the personal ordeal that artists face from the public glare makes very few people aware of the numerous struggles, financial instability, and mental health issues forced to endure in these highly competitive, unpredictable professions.
