5 Movies to Make Christmas More Christmassy

Christmas is a time to be with your loved ones; eat, drink, laugh and to be merry. Now there are many ways to celebrate Christmas with your loved ones. Watching a Christmas movie marathon is one way to enjoy Christmas with your loved ones.

Here’s a list of five movies that will make your Christmas movie marathon, more Christmassy:

5) “A Merry Friggin’ Christmas”

A Merry Friggin’ Christmas, is one of the Yuletide-themed comedy movies which is directed by Tristam Shapeero, where Late Robin Williams, plays Mitch, the alcoholic father of an extended family. He has been a constant disappointment to his family since 1970’s. He has a son, Boyd, who is haunted by some of the childhood memories of his drunkard and cynical father. The movie has flashbacks and the whole story’s milestones are Christmases.

4) “Love Actually”

Love Actually is a movie which revolves around the lives of 16 people, whose lives are completely different, but in a series of random events, around Christmas, their lives cross each other. The movie runs in parallel slots and it’s really interesting to follow all of the short stories which are interrelated and are set up in London, around the whole month. All the characters are shown dealing with their love lives in the movie.

3) “Disney’s A Christmas Carol”

Disney’s A Christmas Carol is the second Christmas movie in which Jim Carrey plays a part. The first Christmas movie which had Jim Carrey in it, was “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”. Disney’s Christmas Carol is an adaptation of Charles Dickens’ Christmas Carol. Jim Carrey performs brilliantly in the movie, and plays different roles including the melancholic Scrooge, in all the three phases of his life, i.e. the past, present and future and the three Christmas spirits which haunt Scrooge. It also features famous actors like Gary Oldman, Bob Hoskins, Colin Firth Cary Elwes and Robin Wright Penn. It is available both in 3D and 2D Blue Ray, so if you have a Television or a home theatre system which supports 3D graphics, you would find it to be brilliant.

2) “Miracle on 34th Street”

Miracle on 34th Street is a movie that you would love even if it was made in 1947. The film was directed by George Davis and is based on a story by Valentine Davies. The events in the movie take place between Thanksgiving and Christmas in New York. It is about a Santa Claus from a departmental store who claims that he is the original Santa. He is declared insane and institutionalized, but a lawyer decides to take up his case and defend him.

1) “The Polar Express

The number One in the list has to go to “The Polar Express”. The film is based on the Children’s book, The Polar Express by Chris Van Allburg and is directed, produced and written by Robert Zemeckis. This movie is about believing and hoping. And has a very existential ring to it. It is timed in the late 1950’s, and is about a boy, who doesn’t believe in Christmas, till he goes on a journey that changes his whole perspective of looking at things. This movie is meant to be watched with everyone, including the children, so keep it reserved for the Christmas Eve. It has got characters, like Tom Hanks giving their voices, which makes it simply magical!

Hope you will enjoy watching these movies, as much as I did. Have a Merry Christmas!
