The New Delhi district election team is all-set for the upcoming AC-39 Rajinder Nagar by-poll. The polling date has been scheduled on June 23, 2022.

This year, Special attention is being given to the 50 lowest turnout polling booths under the umbrella of the ‘Focus 50’ mission. Dovetailed Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) campaigns are organizing a multi-pronged strategy to improve voter turnout compared to the last election. A mega pink bike rally has been planned for June 22, 2022 where they will do a parikrama of these 50 polling stations.

Flash mobs and musical laser shows with spectacular performances by musical bands are organized to attract young voters.

Special college events saw the enthusiastic participation of students. To curate the creativity of students, a picture and slogan writing competition was organized where students made colourful posters displayed in polling locations. Exclusive social media awareness campaigns are also the part of campaigns to grab all the attention of young voters.

Election Rath on tour!

As part of voter awareness & motivation initiatives, Election Rath was launched with multimedia messages to reach out to voters. Twenty-one canopies have been set up near the 21 polling locations for voter awareness. Banners & posters are displayed at prominent locations, including milk booths providing all polling-related information. Information is supplied on QR codes as well.

Munadis and street plays are being carried out at all the polling locations and crowded places to create awareness & motivation to participate in the festival of democracy. Shops have been provided with stamps of “Vote on 23rd June” to be stamped on every bill. The schools’ Electoral Literacy Clubs (ELC) was roped in for the initiatives.

An oath was administered by the Head of schools (HOS) in the constituency to the children so that all voters could be reached. They will appeal to the elders in the family and neighborhood to go and cast their vote on 23rd June 2022. BLOs also have gone door to door and motivated voters to take a ‘Shapath’ for voting. Behaviour change communication and one-on-one counseling are the new initiatives adopted this time to positively impact the voters’ attitude so that they turn up in huge numbers on poll day.

All polling stations have assured minimum facilities, and 100% webcasting has been implemented. A crèche facility is also provided at all polling stations to ease mothers who come to vote with their young children. Availability of toys and toffees has been made at these crèche facilities. The polling stations showcase the best synergy between green Earth initiatives and technology (webcasting / PDMS). Every polling station reflects the nature of ‘Accessible Elections’ and that ‘No voter is left behind.’

COVID Suraksha

These are times of pandemic, and the health challenge that COVID-19 poses cannot be neglected. Therefore all polling stations will follow COVID protocols in place. The last one hour will be used for voters who are COVID positive and in quarantine and wish to vote. CATS ambulances are arranged for COVID-positive voters and this facility will be provided by the health teams of the New Delhi district. COVID Suraksha kits will also be given to 80+ voters who come to vote.

New Delhi district administration is making all-out efforts to increase voter participation and make these by-polls memorable with a high voter turnout.
