Possible reasons for sealing the borders explained
Amid the rising number of coronavirus cases in Delhi, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced that the borders of New Delhi will be sealed for a week. Lately, there have been indications of the scarcity of beds in Delhi government-run hospitals. Also, there have been talks that the beds will be reserved for the city’s residents only. New Delhi has been witnessing a four-digit-rise in the number of coronavirus cases since March 28. The total number of cases has crossed 20,000 by 1st June. However, CM Kejriwal added that there will be more relaxations within the national capital.
Who all can enter and exit Delhi?
People who are associated with essential services like health services, movements of groceries, vegetables, fruits, dairy items, municipal services, banking operations among others will be allowed to enter or exit the national capital. People who are a government employee can also enter Delhi if they show a valid identity proof. People with movement pass can enter the city while cabs, buses and autos are restricted to enter New Delhi.

People of Gurugram, Noida, Faridabad, Ghaziabad to face difficulties
After the guidelines for lockdown 4.0 were announced, people from N.C.R. regions were able to travel ‘to and from’ Delhi to reach their offices. Now, that the borders are sealed the same people will face difficulties to reach their offices without a valid pass or ID.
Gurugram allowed the movement of people and vehicle across the border for two weeks starting from June 1.
The borders of Ghaziabad and Noida are sealed too for several days now.

Possible reasons for sealing borders
CM Arvind Kejriwal said that Delhi’s healthcare services in government sector are free and he believes that patients from other states would prefer New Delhi to get treatment for COVID-19 infection.
In New Delhi, there are 6,600 COVID-19 beds currently in New Delhi hospitals. 2,586 of those beds are occupied. Delhi authorities fear that the beds will get occupied if free movement continues at the border.
Delhi government also lifted the bar on the number of passengers in a car (2), auto (1), bike (1) and others. Shops and Markets (non-essential) which were supposed to open on the alternate days can be opened every day now.
