Therefore, here are claims that went viral with a fact-check.

Sena removed the reference of Hindu Religion in the Exam Form!

Viral Claims: A screenshot of an admission form for Secondary and Higher Secondary classes in Maharashtra is being shared to claim that the Maha Vikas Aghadi Government replaced the word ‘Hindu’ with ‘Non-minority’ under the religion section. Shiv Sena leads the MVA government. Here is our fact-check.

Fact: It was found that the same form was uploaded on the Maharashtra State Board’s official website in 2017. As per reports, this change was made in 2013.

Delhi government school converted into Madarsa!

Viral Claims: A video showing the group of people entering the classroom with police is going viral on social media. The video claims that the government primary school in New Delhi is converted into a Madarsa. It targets Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and accused the Delhi government of appeasement politics. Several social media users including Delhi BJP spokesperson Kemchand Sharma shared the viral video. This video is also circulating via WhatsApp.

Fact: This claim is false. Firstly, the school in the viral video is in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, and not in Delhi. Many users in the comment section of the viral say that the school is in UP. A person known as Ashutosh Gupta had gone live on 19 November 2021 and at the beginning of the video, we could hear a person saying, “This is a primary school in Vijay Nagar in Ghaziabad.” The School Board stamps the authenticity by clearly saying the location of the school in the background.

As per the reports of Quint, the SHO of the area told that the people in the video did not have permission to gather. Hence, they were sent back home. However, the school did not file any complaint, which is why no FIR was registered.

The 1963 Sci-Fi Movie was titled ‘The Omicron Variant’!

Viral Claims: India is reeling again under the threat of the Omicron Virus. However, some social media users claimed that a visionary director predicted much before this variant. A movie titled ‘The Omicron Variant’ was released back in 1963.

Fact: The poster was created by altering the text ‘The Omicron Variant’ on the poster of another sci-fi movie called ‘Phase IV’. Therefore, it was a digitally altered poster claiming the pandemic was ‘pre-planned.

1957 comic strip talked about ‘China Virus’

Viral Claims: A comic strip showing the Phantom, a classic superhero can be seen instructing other characters on how to cover their faces with a cloth. This was being widely shared on social media with an insinuation that COVID19 was ‘planned’. It says that the comic strip published in 1957 talked about the ‘China Virus’.

Fact: Read our fact-check here. The original strip was digitally altered to replace the words ‘Sleep death’ with ‘China Virus’. Therefore, there were no such predictions.

UP CM, Yogi Adityanath humiliated UP Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya!

Viral Claims: A short video claiming that the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath, humiliated UP Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya in a public event is viral on social media. The video shows CM Adityanath and others sitting on a stage when a man approaches him to prompt something in his ear but was scolded and told to sit back.

Fact: The viral claim is false. A Twitter post of the Resident Editor K news India Manish Pandey posted the same video on 30 November. As per the reports of TV9 Bharatvarsh report, the incident took place on 29 November, where the CM was invited as a chief guest at a sports event in Bansgaon. There, Vibhrat Chand Kaushik, the Vice President of Uttar Pradesh State Youth Welfare Council and has the status of Minister of State, approached the CM to say something in his ear but was scolded and told to sit back during the event.
