Stay Fit, Healthy All Summer: Hydrate, Smart Workouts, Fuel Well

Because summer brings longer days and higher temperatures, many find themselves wanting to work on their health and fitness.

Stay Fit and Healthy All Summer with These Simple Tips

Because summer brings longer days and higher temperatures, many find themselves wanting to work on their health and fitness. But, season brings special problems too, including high temperatures and found guest involvement. Summer health and fitness should be negotiated through exercise, diet and self-care.

1. Try to Find Outdoor Fun (But Safely)

It’s a great idea to take your gym activities outdoors in the summer months. You could try going cycling, swimming, hiking or just walking fast in a nearby park. A walk in fresh air can give you a lift and encourage you to be active. Nonetheless, take care if you go outside during the warmest parts of the day. Try to plan your time outdoors during the early mornings or evenings to protect yourself from heat problems. Choose items to wear made from material that allows your skin to breathe, plus extra protection from a hat and sunglasses.

2. Staying well hydrated matters a lot

The most vital thing for summer health is to drink plenty of water. A rise in temperature causes the body to sweat more often and there is a higher chance of dehydration. Don’t let yourself feel thirsty before reaching for water; you’re already losing a little water at that point. Have a bottle of water with you and drink some during the day. Try to drink 8-10 glass of water and remember to drink more if you’re physically active or outside for long periods. After tiring workouts, having an electrolyte drink helps replace the minerals that are lost. Try to reduce the number of sugary drinks, alcohol and caffeine you drink because these can cause dehydration.

3. Eat Purely Seasonal Produce Every Day

Extra tasty and vibrant fruits and vegetables can be found during summer. Eat more berries, watermelon, cucumbers, bell peppers and leafy greens during this season. These foods supply you with important nutrients and also help you stay hydrated. Eat salads, lean grilled meat or fish and smoothies for their easy-to-digest qualities.

4. Stick with a Routine (Even While on Vacation)

Vacations are for relaxing, but they need not destroy your fitness goal all together. You’re only getting off your routine, but be creative when thinking about your activity. Choose to walk instead of taxi, walk to discover new places, or at least you have access to the hotel gym or a swimming pool. If you are staying somewhere without these amenities, then you can always perform body weight exercises anywhere. When it comes to food, just try to look for balance, have your treats, but don’t treat every meal as an opportunity to indulge.

5. Get Sleep

While we continue to longer hours of daylight and increased social activities, these factors may cut into your sleep. However, recovering from workouts, regulating hormones, and developing overall health are all contingent on adequate sleep. Between 7-9 hours of good quality sleep is required for the body to restore itself from the day we just spent awake. For a good sleep, your environment (temp, darkness, and quiet) must allow for it.

6. Listen to Your Body

The heat can tax your system. If you start to feel dizzy, nauseous, or severely fatigued, just stop and rest in a cool location. Whatever you decide to do, do not push it too hard.. Make necessary adjustments based on the current conditions, such as moving slower and/or working out for a lesser duration.

By implementing these strategies, you can stay fit and healthy all summer season !
