His impact extends beyond YouTube, as he has recently earned recognition from TIME Magazine as one of the ‘next generation leaders’ of 2023. From Travel Blogger to Truth Defender

Rathee, a 28-year-old content creator, celebrated this significant achievement on social media, expressing his honour at being included in such a renowned list and his pride in representing India on an international stage. His journey on YouTube began with a travel blog, but he soon recognized a critical need in the Indian online space. Many Indians lacked the necessary skills to discern credible information on the internet, often falling victim to misinformation. This realization led Rathee to transition into creating fact-checking content.

His mission is clear: to present complex issues most simply and understandably as possible. Through his videos, he aims to break down intricate topics into easily digestible pieces of information, empowering his viewers to make informed decisions.

However, with great influence comes its own set of challenges. Rathee has faced backlash and trolling from various quarters. One notable incident occurred when he addressed the controversial film ‘The Kerala Story’ in May. Despite using government data to counter the film’s claims, he was subjected to online trolling and even received rape threats directed at his wife.

Challenges and Humble Success

In another instance, his video was blocked by the Indian Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in September due to allegations of featuring a distorted map of the Indian-administered territory of Kashmir.

Nonetheless, his commitment to providing accurate information and educating his audience remains unwavering, making him a prominent figure in the realm of fact-checking and educational content creation.
