Rahul and Athiya Love Story: Cricket and Bollywood had a long dating history. From Sharmila Tagore and Mansoor ali Pataudi to Anushka and Virat, many actresses found their love on the cricket field. Now, veteran actor’s Suniel Shetty’s daughter Athiya Shetty and cricketer Kannur Lokesh Rahul are next to join this bandwagon.
Wedding bells to ring for K L Rahul and Athiya Shetty. As per the reports, Rahiya (couple’s hashtag given by fans) is all set to exchange the wedding vows on January 23. For the D-day Rahul has ditched the series against New Zealand.
There has been no official confirmation either from the cricketer or Shetty’s daughter. Family and kin are choosing to remain tight-lipped about the wedding affairs. Meanwhile, the groom’s house is lit-up, and it is anticipated that the wedding festivities will begin from January 21.
However, rumours about Athiya dating Rahul were not new to the public. Several times the PDA lovers have been spotted together, either on social media or at events. But no one really knows when their romance started brewing.

As per the reports, it is said that Athiya and KL Rahul were introduced to each other by common friends and the two instantly got along well. Soon their formal introduction turned into romantic dates. But no one caught on until Designer Vikram Phadnis subtly confirmed their relationship status on Instagram by teasing Athiya with the handsome cricketer.
Rahiya has been dating since February 2019, but it was only at the end of the year that Rahul posted a picture of them together for the first time on his Instagram feed.

The couple had flown to Thailand for New Year celebrations.
In June 2021, fans also spotted some chemistry between Ms Shetty and Rahul while he was playing for India on the England tour. Since then Athiya Shetty has been the biggest cheerleader for Rahul and accompanied him in almost all of his matches.
In November 2021, KL took a bold step and made their relationship Insta-official by posting an adorable picture and showering birthday wishes on his ladylove.
In December 2021, Rahul and Athiya made their first public appearance together at the screening of Tadap, the film in which Athiya’s brother Ahan made his movie debut as an actor. The couple arrived holding hand-in-hand and posed like a couple for the media.
Rahul’s bonding with Sasur
In March 2022, Rahul opened up about his father-in-law Suniel Shetty on Breakfast with Champions.
He revealed that the veteran actor is borderline obsessed with cricket and they sometimes have disagreements and arguments while talking about the game.
Amidst all the wedding talks, Rahul and Athiya jetted off to Dubai in December and welcomed 2023 together.

Since the bride and the groom both hail from the great state of Karnataka, the wedding will be as per South Indian traditions and will take place at Mana and Suniel Shetty’s farmhouse in Khandala.
As it is expected to be an intimate affair garlands will be exchanged in the presence of only close friends and family members only.
