From Yogi to Rana: How Irrfan Khan redefined the ‘Right Guy’?

How Irrfan Khan redefined love and the perception of the Right Man?

When it comes to romance in Bollywood, it is hard to imagine someone other than SRK. He has personified love and romance, right? Romance in our imagination is about beautiful locations, mountains, pickup lines and the hero doing all the right things to impress the heroine. But do you think ‘Real Mai Bhi Aisa Hota hai’? Everyone is different, and sometimes, the right guy will come across a man who is weird, confused, and funny but has his heart in the right place.

Today, we are remembering Irrfan Khan. Here are a few characters he played that completely changed the definition of the Right Guy. Be it, Rana, in Piku, to Yogi in Qarib Qarib Single, his unconventional romance awakened us. Let us take a look at his characters.

1.Monty – Life in a Metro

Irrfan Khan’s character received a lot of love from the audience. It is the main reason we still love to watch films whenever it is aired on television. Monty just redefined the right man. The guy was sweet, cute, confused and had an adorable sense of humour. How he explains things to Konkana in the film makes us realize that all we need is Monty. Monty’s romance was cute, exciting and refreshing.

2. Rana – Piku

Rana was not an ideal lover, but he had his heart in the right place. He loved Piku but wasn’t sure. His sarcasm left a mark on us. When working with megastar Amitabh Bachchan, it is never easy to steal the limelight. It was Irrfan who did that. Nobody could have pulled off the character of Rana better than him. Piku and Rana’s love story was fresh and cute. It was during the drive that they actually got to know each other. He understands her stubbornness, and Piku realizes he is not a jerk.

Piku has responsibilities, and Rana has disappointments. His wife left him, and his previous job was a nightmare. The film was all about hinting that Rana has feelings for Piku. In the 2 –hour long movie, the line between hunting and confession was never crossed. He was adamant when it came to confessing his feelings. Still, he didn’t shy away from showing compassion in the warmest way possible. Don’t you feel we all should have Rana in our life?

3. Jogi Qarib Qarib Singlle

One of the best love stories we have watched in the past few years. Set on two adults, Yogi and Jaya, the film is a delight to watch. We loved Irrfan’s character. Like a regular romantic hero, he does nothing to impress Jaya. He often cracks weird jokes and talks a lot. He misses the train and always brags about his ex-girlfriends. But he knows Jaya is the one for him. Their hatke love story will keep you hooked till the end. Yogi’s stupid jokes and unconventional ways of expressing love are the major takeaways of the film. He doesn’t take things seriously but wants to win Jaya’s love.

These were our favourite romantic characters of Irrfan Khan. He redefined the right guy and gave us some refreshing Hatke love stories. These characters left a mark on our hearts. They made us believe that Right Man not only comes with a beautiful Violin background, but he can also come with confusion and sarcasm. He can be cute as well as vulnerable. Irrfan Khan will always be remembered for his outstanding performances and will stay in our hearts forever.
