The people not liking Laxmmi Bomb are by mistakenly giving poor reviews to a masterpiece, Tikli and Laxmi Bomb
Around a week ago, the trailer of one of the very awaited films got released and ever since then, it is making quite a buzz around, and why not? It is casting Akshay Kumar and is a Raghava Lawrence’s film. Where the trailer is being liked by a lot of people, there are certain critical remarks made by people which definitely proves it’s sexist, misogynistic and toxic malsculinist nature. Well, we were definitely excited about the trailer and the film and we liked it or it’s not something we will come upon next, but here, is a big confusion that has been flourishing, that is between the two films, Raghava Lawrence’s Laxmmi Bomb and Aditya Kripalani’s Tikli and Laxmi Bomb, and the latter has been receiving grave reviews thinking it is the Laxmmi Bomb starring Akshay Kumar.
In 2017, Aditya Kripalani, an Indian filmmaker, writer, musician and producer came up with a film, Tikli and Laxmi Bomb which represented the lives of sex workers. The film takes a compelling story of two sex workers, struggling and finally deciding to kick men out of the system and form a cooperative that runs the business for women and by the women. And, here we need to mention this that this film is one of the best independent films available on Netflix. Now, this film has got nothing to do with the upcoming release, ‘Laxmmi Bomb’ except the name. When a person will search ‘Laxmi Bomb’ on google, the first search result is likely to be ‘Tikli and Laxmi Bomb’ instead of ‘Laxmmi Bomb’. Had Laxmmi Bomb’s trailer been a good trailer for the audience, it wouldn’t have created problems for Kriplani, but here, it is creating problems as it Kriplani’s film which got a lot of negative reviews and poor ratings in light of ‘Laxmmi Bomb’s release.
Ironic that a film that has got max rating as 5 has been getting the second-highest rating as 1.
Well, a few good people are taking the initiative of clearing this confusion arising for the Tikli, every bad rating can definitely prove to be lethal for a good film.
Problems with the trailer of Laxmmi Bomb
Well, in the three minutes forty seconds trailer, we could simply find elements of misogyny and toxic masculinity. A few dialogues to recall can be the metaphor, “Agar bhoot dikha toh haath mei chudiyan pehen lunga” has been used quite a few times which is misogynistic and toxic malsculinist at the same time. There are instances where it stereotypes gender in name of gender upliftment. And in the name of humour, it definitely objectifies transgenders. So, with the trailer, we could only find traces that are not really doing justice to gender politics, let’s see how the film will be.
