Dwayne Douglas Johnson was born on 2nd May, 1972, at Hayward, California, into a family rich in wrestling history. His father was a famous pro-wrestler called Rocky Johnson, while his maternal grandfather was a Samoan-American wrestler named Peter Maivia. Johnson spent his early childhood in New Zealand, where he nurtured a love for rugby, before heading back to the United States to play football at the University of Miami.
From The Football Field To The Wrestling Ring
Upswept and gone in the NFL Draft of 1995, it was in 1996 that Johnson chose the arts of wrestling as a career. He had initially worked under the ring name Flex Kavana but eventually switched to Rocky Maivia to pay his dues to his father and grandfather. It was the rising fortune, however, of The Rock that launched him into super-stardom. Johnson’s popularity reached stratospheric heights during the WWF’s Attitude Era because of his outspoken and caricatured style of entertaining.

Johnson made his film debut in 2001 in The Mummy Returns, starring the lead role in The Scorpion King (2002). His adaptability has enabled him to transition between action-star and family star seamlessly.
Entrepreneurialism
Apart from acting, Johnson is into numerous businesses. He launched Teremana Tequila in 2020, which became an instant success. He also co-founded Seven Bucks Productions, a film and television production company, and has teamed with Under Armour on his “Project Rock” fitness line.
