Ajaz Khan, Ullu App’s ‘House Arrest’ in Trouble Over Vulgar Content Clip Controversy

Controversies erupted when actor Ajaz Khan and producer Rajkumar Pandey were dragged before the law after a video clip from their reality show House Arrest went viral and attracted public anger. The show, which was shown on Ullu App streaming platform, is being investigated by the authorities on the ground of promotion of obscene content. The Mumbai Police filed an FIR against Khan and others connected with the show after a formal complaint was lodged with them by Gautam Ravriya, a Bajrang Dal activist.

The controversy kicked off after people discovered the video featuring Khan, which has him directing his contestants, including women, to be filmed while enacting different positions for sex. This footage quickly traversed social media networks and drew responses from netizens and political leaders alike. Many users slammed that specific shoot as vulgar and inappropriate, demanding severe punishment on all those behind it.

According to Amboli Police Station officials, the case was registered under several provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Information Technology Act, and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act. In the complaints by Gautam Ravriya, it was specified that he was getting calls from numerous people complaining about the obscene nature of the show and its unhygienic effects on the society.

In response to the serious outcry, Ullu App has taken down the House Arrest series from its platform. Interested searches on the show, as of Friday, yield a message saying no results for the title, attesting to its removal during the uproar.

Simultaneously, the NCW was also affected. The same hour the complaint was lodged, the NCW summoned Ajaz Khan and Vibhu Agarwal, the Ullu App CEO, citing vulgarity and raising questions of serious consent violations. Such content was deemed harmful for women’s dignity and would set a dangerous precedent for online media platforms, the commission said.

Pressure has further mounted by the Maharashtra BJP MLC Chitra Wagh, who insisted immediate action on the matter. On Thursday, she demanded that House Arrest be banned altogether, referring to it as “the epitome of obscenity.” Wagh argued that such shows picture not only negative but also destructive values to children and society as a whole.

The need for stricter regulations on digital content platforms has also been made apparent by previous events. Ethical responsibilities of the content creator and OTT platform come under question with respect to societal standards. As investigations continue, all eyes remain on what legal ramifications Ajaz Khan, Rajkumar Pandey, and Ullu App may face.
