Tesla Showroom in Delhi to Open in Aerocity After Mumbai: Everything You Need to Know About Tesla’s India Expansion
After making a grand entrance into the Indian market with the launch of its first showroom in Mumbai, Tesla is now gearing up for its second major unveiling — this time in Delhi. The American electric vehicle giant has chosen Aerocity, a premium business and lifestyle destination near Indira Gandhi International Airport, as the site for its upcoming Tesla showroom in Delhi.
This move signals Tesla’s serious interest in the Indian electric vehicle (EV) market, which is steadily gaining traction with increased support from government policies and rising environmental consciousness among urban consumers.
The upcoming showroom in Delhi will be housed inside the prestigious Worldmark complex, a premium real estate development owned by Brookfield Asset Management. The company has reportedly secured a 4,000-square-foot retail space within the complex, positioning itself among global hotel chains, luxury retail outlets, and top corporate offices. According to reports, Tesla has signed a lease agreement at a monthly rental of ₹25 lakh for the showroom.
While Tesla’s Mumbai showroom served as the company’s official Indian debut, industry insiders suggest that the Delhi outlet has been in the works for months. The strategic location at Aerocity not only ensures visibility but also allows easy access to high-net-worth individuals, frequent international travelers, and business professionals — Tesla’s core target demographic in the country.
As per an NDTV report, the Tesla showroom in Delhi is expected to open later this month. The new store is part of Tesla’s initial strategy to focus more on brand-building and assessing consumer interest before scaling up full operations or setting up service centers in India. Sources told Reuters that these early facilities are solely meant for display and customer interaction, not servicing or delivery operations.

The inauguration of the Mumbai showroom was attended by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who expressed enthusiasm for Tesla’s potential to contribute to India’s EV ecosystem. During the event, Fadnavis said, “We hope that Tesla will also plan a manufacturing plant and a Research and Development unit in India as well.” However, Tesla has made no official commitment regarding local manufacturing or R&D facilities at this stage.
Tesla has already revealed pricing for its electric vehicles in the Indian market. The Model Y, one of the most awaited models, is priced at ₹61 lakh on-road, with the rear-wheel drive version starting at ₹59.89 lakh. These price points reflect Tesla’s premium positioning and aim to appeal to India’s affluent urban market.
Just days before the Mumbai showroom launch, Tesla teased its entry into India with a cryptic post on its India-focused X (formerly Twitter) account, stating “Coming Soon” and hinting at a July 2025 debut. The announcement created a buzz across social media platforms and among auto enthusiasts in the country.
Tesla’s entry into India comes at a time when the government is actively pushing for electric mobility through an updated EV policy. This policy includes reduced import duties and incentives for global electric vehicle manufacturers, which is expected to significantly benefit Tesla’s business model in the country.

With two major showrooms in place — one in Mumbai and another soon in Delhi — Tesla appears to be laying the groundwork for a broader Indian expansion. While full-scale operations like service centers, charging infrastructure, and local manufacturing may still be in the pipeline, the company’s presence in two of India’s most prominent metros marks a strong start.
As Tesla continues to test the waters in the Indian automotive market, all eyes are now on Aerocity, where the next chapter in Tesla’s India journey is about to begin.
