India-Pakistan Tensions Escalate: 10 Civilians Killed, Over 20 Injured in Heavy LoC Shelling; BSF on High

10 civilians killed, 20+ injured in Pakistan's LoC shelling; Operation Sindoor launched by India, BSF and Army on high alert across western borders.

Fresh Escalation Along LoC: 10 Civilians Killed Casualties Rise Amid Operation Sindoor

Once again, tensions have surged between India and Pakistan early on Wednesday when the Pakistan army commenced mortar shelling along the Line of Control (LoC), killing at least 10 civilians while injuring more than 20 others in the process. The ravenous and swift act received immediate heavyweight repercussions from the Indian armed forces, who in turn carried out targeted strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) under the newly launched Operation Sindoor.

The forward villages where the shelling occurred are as much volatile border districts of Poonch and Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir. According to officials, mortars and artillery were fired by Pakistan, hitting the places and hitting public infrastructures, including a local bus stand where a shell landed and destroyed the whole bus.

The worst-affected areas are Krishna Ghati, Shahpur, and Mankote in the Poonch district and Laam, Manjakote, and Gambeer Brahmana in Rajouri district. These places have historically remained sensitive due to their proximity to the LoC and their strategic importance in military operations and cross-border infiltration attempts.

Apart from civilians, 2 personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) got hurt because of the heavy shelling. Officials also confirmed that both jawans are in stable condition and receiving medical treatment.

The Indian Army swiftly reacted to the unprovoked aggression. Thereafter, the artillery units were activated to retaliate with effectiveness while targeting both the origins of the shelling and confirmed terror camps operating across the border. Operation Sindoor has been described in the form of a “calibrated and strategic” action by Indian military, with the end purpose of neutralizing imminent threats while sending a clear message against such provocations continuing.

With the latest turn of events, the Border Security Force (BSF) has also been placed on high alert across India’s western borders with Pakistan. Enhanced surveillance, increased patrols, and operational readiness have been mandated across all forward posts to counter any further escalation or infiltration attempts.

This fresh outburst of violence rekindles fears of civilian safety in border areas. The authorities are working towards evacuating those at-risk areas and providing medical assistance to the injured. The coordination of relief efforts is being done in association with local district administrations and armed forces personnel deployed in the region.

While the diplomatic channels brace for likely aftershocks, the Indian government has maintained that provocations from across the border will not go unanswered. The ongoing situation continues to be monitored closely, with the Indian Army keeping a high state of readiness at all times waiting for any further developments.
