Ashneer Grover mocks Salman Khan, criticising Bigg Boss 19 host for overshadowing contestants with weekend-only appearances.
Ashneer Grover Mocks Salman Khan, Slams Bigg Boss 19 Host Over Weekend Appearances and Focus Shift from Contestants
When it comes to outspoken personalities in India, Ashneer Grover has always been on top of the list. Known for his blunt remarks and unapologetic style, the former Shark Tank India judge recently grabbed headlines once again. This time, it was for his sharp criticism of Salman Khan while indirectly talking about Bigg Boss 19. Ashneer Grover mocks Salman Khan by questioning the Bollywood superstar’s limited involvement in the reality show, suggesting that the true effort and recognition should go to the contestants rather than the host.
Ashneer Grover is currently hosting his own reality show titled Rise and Fall. During a promotional interview for the show, Grover took what appeared to be a veiled dig at Salman Khan and the way Bigg Boss is structured. Without naming Salman directly, Grover pointed out that many reality shows in India have become more about the host than the participants themselves. “Reality shows have to be about contestants. Unfortunately, we’ve had a very big show with a very big superstar and it became more about him than the contestants. Bhai aap to ek weekend mein aa rahe ho. Jo 24 ghante lage hain woh to contestant lage hue hain,” he remarked. His words were a clear hint at Bigg Boss and its long-time host, Salman Khan.

Grover went on to stress that the power of a reality show lies in the hands of contestants and their stories, not in how much attention the host grabs. According to him, a host should not hijack the format or shift the focus away from those who are actually living inside the house and giving 24/7 content. This statement stirred conversations online, especially because of his not-so-pleasant history with Salman Khan.
The tension between Ashneer Grover and Salman Khan is not new. Their cold war traces back to an incident during a brand endorsement shoot. Grover once shared in an interview that he had spent nearly three hours briefing Salman Khan about his company before the shoot, only to be told by Salman’s manager that the superstar would not click a photo with him. Grover recalled feeling humiliated and insulted, expressing his frustration by saying, “Maine bola, nahi khichwaunga photo, bhaad mein ja tu. Matlab aisi kaunsi heropanti ho gayi.” This incident marked the beginning of an uneasy relationship between the two.
The matter resurfaced in 2024 when Ashneer Grover appeared as a guest on Bigg Boss 18. During the episode, Salman Khan took the opportunity to confront Grover about his past statements. Salman reminded him that he had misrepresented their interactions and publicly cautioned him to be mindful of his words. Grover, on his part, apologised on the show, clarifying that he had no intention of disrespecting Salman. Yet, the tension between them was evident to the viewers.
Now, with his new show Rise and Fall, Grover has once again stirred controversy by targeting Salman Khan, albeit indirectly. Fans and critics have interpreted his remarks as yet another jab at the Bollywood star. While some support Grover’s viewpoint about reality shows prioritising contestants, others feel he is reigniting old issues to gain attention for his show.
The ongoing spat highlights two different perspectives on reality TV. For Salman Khan, Bigg Boss has always been about balancing drama inside the house with his larger-than-life persona as host. For Ashneer Grover, however, the spotlight belongs to contestants who dedicate every waking hour to entertaining audiences. The clash of these perspectives not only adds fuel to their personal rivalry but also raises a larger question: should reality shows be about the journey of participants or the charisma of the host?
As Bigg Boss 19 continues with Salman Khan at the helm and Rise and Fall makes its mark with Ashneer Grover, one thing is clear—their paths will likely keep crossing. And whenever they do, the sparks are sure to fly.
