Ghaziabad Police To Record Victim’s Statement In Yash Dayal Case
In a major twist to the case of sexual exploitation allegations against cricketer Yash Dayal, the Ghaziabad Police is on the warpath of investigations on the matter, and now one of the main efforts would be to get the formal statement of the victim recorded. This has followed the registration of an FIR against Dayal, a fast bowler with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), to cover the Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) that deals with sexual intercourse by using deceitful means, false promise of marriage etc.
This case came into importance when a woman of Ghaziabad created a complaint, first making the complaint online through the Chief Ministers grievance portal on June 21, 2025. She claims to have been into a five year relationship with Dayal, where the latter made physical relationship with her on numerous occasions under the pretext of marriage. The complainant states that on her introduction to his family, they promised not to leave her hungry and she would turn out to be their daughter-in-law and this would further seal her trust in her dealings with Dayal.
But her complaint explains a discomforting twist of event. According to her, the behavior of Dayal started changing about one month earlier, when he started ignoring her, blocked her on social media, and finally declined to marry her. Accused of confronting her he claims her of physically abusing her. The victim has also stated that Dayal took advantage of her on the emotional and financial grounds and had multiple partners at the same time. To confirm her claims, she has given evidence in the form of screenshots, chat details, video calls records and photographs. Ghaziabad police have already filed an FIR and also the statement of the lady has been taken.
Ghaziabad’s Additional Police Commissioner, Alok Priyadarshi, explained Dayal would soon be arrested, and that a medical examination of the victim would be performed as well. The seriousness of the charges is obvious, as BNS Section 69 provides for a maximum potential prison sentence of ten years and a fine.

Clearly, this case has already made waves throughout the cricket community, given that Dayal was a well-known player, made only more notable due to his strong recent form in the Indian Premier League. Investigations into the claims and allegations of misleading promises will continue, and police will see if the victim’s version of the events can be verified with supporting evidence. While the victim’s testimony, if it can be confirmed with supporting evidence, would be an important piece of any legal proceedings against Dayal, the player has not yet given his side of the story to police. This will be an ongoing dispute best left to the legal system, as well as the larger context of the new legal options available to women and men in Ontario about serious accusations such as sexual exploitation through false promises; and the commitment the police have to addressing those claims.
