Saudia Airlines Hajj flight was with 250 pilgrims in Jeddah when the plane landed in the Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow when something went wrong in its wheels, causing the plane to have a dramatic scene with sparks and smoke coming out of the aircraft. The accident, in flight SV 3112, was made at about 6:30AM IST following an overnight trip originated in Jeddah where it had left at 10:45PM.
January 18 eyewitnesses and video recording shared on social media show a tragic scene when an aircraft landed. There was visible sparks and thick columns of smoke coming out of one of the wheels on the landing gear, which indicated a lot of friction or a structural failure of sorts. This would certainly have been a scary sight to the people on board, as well as the ground personnel watching the landing. The malfunction itself was associated with the problems of the structural integrity of the landing gear and the possibility of a more serious accident.
All 250 Hajj pilgrims and the flight crew in the plane are said to be safe despite the highly distressing visual show.
