Indian agencies foil ISI’s Delhi Terror Attack plot in a secret 3-month op; Pakistani spy Ansari and Ranchi aide arrested, charged under Official Secrets Act.
Delhi Terror Attack Plot Foiled by Indian Intelligence in 3-Month Operation; ISI Spy and Indian Aide Arrested in High-Stakes Security Crackdown
In an all-India milestone, the intelligence agencies broke a major terror plot hatched by the Pakistani Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) to target the national capital in India’s fight against cross-border terrorism. After executing a very carefully planned covert operation for well over three months, a dangerous spy network was unearthed and clamped down on, saving Delhi from an impending disaster.
The operation led to the arrest of two people, one of whom is Ansarul Miya Ansari, a Pakistani spy who was specially trained and sent into India to acquire and pass on sensitive information regarding the Indian armed forces to his handlers in Pakistan. The movement of Ansari was kept under close watch by Indian officials from the time intelligence inputs suggested that an ISI agent had infiltrated the country via Nepal in January.
The initial tip-off provided information that the spy was directed to obtain secret documents, photographs, and even Google coordinates associated with Indian military installations. Though the investigation started slowly, the mid-February scenario completely changed when Ansari was arrested in central Delhi at about 15 February 2011. He was apprehended carrying highly classified materials while attempting to escape from India through the same Nepal route that he had used to enter.
Investigators recovered very crucial evidence from Ansari, including sensitive documents which could jeopardize the national security. Sources involved in the operation have praised the precision of the officials involved, stating how their ability to stay ahead of the Pakistani operative at every stage was a textbook case of intelligence mastery.
They were further investigating evidence that pointed out that Ansari was not working independently. Akhlaque Azam, a citizen of India from Ranchi, was arrested in March for logistics support to the Pakistani agent in India. Communications between the pair were allegedly active at that moment with their handlers in Pakistan, including two ISI officers, Muzammil and Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish. These ISI handlers are also under investigation for having attempted to influence Indian YouTubers and other social media personalities.
A worrying aspect of the investigation that surfaced indicates that part of the staff of the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi might have aided or coordinated with the ISI officers in this terror plot. It gives a very diplomatic turn to the case, requiring more thorough scrutiny of foreign diplomatic channels.

Both Ansari and Azam are now confined in one of the high-security wings of Tihar jail. Officials are closely monitoring their activities to prevent them from influencing other inmates. Conversations with their mobile phones have shown frightening evidence of their association with Pakistani handlers, which indicate that Delhi Terror Attack was one part of a larger plan possibly targeting northwestern India.
The agencies presume that this foiled plan had even a broader ambit to include ISI-supposed organizations, like Babbar Khalsa International, which has previously executed grenade attacks in Punjab. Against the arrested duo, a formal chargesheet has been filed, while investigation is on to find out other people involved in this deep conspiratorial net.
