Abhishek Sharma and Digvesh Singh engage in an on-field spat during SRH vs LSG match in IPL 2025, causing major drama before tensions cooled.
Abhishek Sharma Threatens Digvesh Singh During Intense On-Field Fight in IPL 2025 Match Between SRH and LSG at Ekana Stadium
A furious encounter between Lucknow Super Giants and Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2025 took an ugly turn as both teams settled arguments. The blame is mainly attributed to SRH opener Abhishek Sharma and LSG leg-spinner Digvesh Singh, who exchanged heated words in front of a stunned crowd at Ekana Cricket Stadium on Monday night. The effect of the incident ran deep with players calling upon their fellow members and match officials for help.
Abhishek Sharma was in destructive mode as he counter-attacked SRH during the chase of a massive target, that was in excess of 200 runs. He finished with a score of 59 runs in just 20 balls, smacking a few boundaries keeping SRH alive. The game shifted when Digvesh Singh tried to slow down the scoring rate by delivering a googly, which Abhishek mistimed. A sharp running catch under the sweepers covered Shardul Thakur took to dismiss the aggressor.
What followed it, however, would not qualify as the quintessential cricket moment. Digvesh celebrated the wicket in his by-now-famous “notebook celebration” that was not taken too kindly by the other one. Instead of drifting quietly, the visibly perturbed SRH batter exchanged hot words with the leg-spin bowler. Tempers quickly spilled when Abhishek was seen directing his obscene gestures toward Digvesh, cursing him that he would grab hold of his hair and beat him up-this most certainly raised eyebrows across every player on the field.
The situation became tense when LSG players, including their captain, Rishabh Pant, Aiden Markram, Avesh Khan, debutant Will O’Rourke, and the two on-field umpires, all hurried to stop the fight and calm both parties. What could have been a celebratory moment for LSG was quickly turned into an ugly fight that lasted long enough to overshadow all competitive spirit the game had.
Thus, eventful as it was, the match ended with SRH comfortably chasing down the target, winning by six wickets and putting an official end to LSG’s hopes of qualifying for the playoffs. Ironically, neither of the two managed to make it to the last four this season – a marked contrast to what SRH achieved with a runner-up finish in IPL 2024 and the parting of ways with KL Rahul by LSG after yet another playoff miss.
After the match, BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla was seen stepping in to smooth over tensions between the two players. In a post-match interview, Player of the Match Abhishek Sharma clarified that there were no lingering issues. “I spoke to him after the game and it is all good now,” he stated, assuring fans and officials that the matter had been resolved.

Although tempers blared and emotions flared in the moment, the players appear to have moved on. But in the end, while thrilling, it is a reminder that the excitement of IPL cricket must always come coupled with sportsmanship and respect on the pitch.
