This will be the second informal summit between Xi Jinping and Narendra Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet Chinese President Xi Jinping for an informal summit on October 11. Chinese President is coming to India after Indian Prime Minister invited him for a second informal summit. The external Affairs Ministry said that the President of The people’s Republic of China will be visiting Chennai, India on 11 and 12 this month.
The Ministry also said that the forthcoming visit of Xi Jinping will provide an opportunity for both the leaders to continue their discussion on overarching issues of global, regional and bilateral importance.
The summit is scheduled to be held in the seaside temple town of Mamallapuram in Tamil Nadu. The second informal summit is expected to focus on taking forward bilateral ties notwithstanding differences on many issues.
The first informal summit between the two leaders happened in Wuhan, China on 27-28 April 2018.
What is the Agenda of the second informal summit?
The focus of the talks is likely to be on steps to ensure the development for both countries and expansion of overall ties in the Mamallapuram summit.
Earlier, Chinese Ambassador Sun Weidong had said about resolving the issues between both countries peacefully through dialogues at the regional level and jointly upholding stability and peace.
The Chinese Envoy during an interview with news agency PTI said that China and India should go beyond the model of “management of differences” and work towards shaping bilateral ties through the accumulation of positive energy and forging stronger cooperation for common development.

The bilateral relation between India and China came under some strain, after India made changes in Article 370, withdrawing special status of Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcating the state into two union territories- Jammu and Kashmir & Ladakh.
