Top five bowling performances were dominated by left-arm pacers
There was an exciting cricket in ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. People were in awe with some on-field and off-field experiences throughout the World Cup. This was more of a Bowler World Cup than a Batsman one. Most of the matches were won defending the target. There were some fantastic bowlers on the show who bowled brilliant spells.
Mitchell Starc, Jasprit Bumrah, Lockie Ferguson, Trent Boult, Jofra Archer, Mustafizur Rahaman, Shaheen Afridi and others. You might miss some big names in the list of top five bowling performances, but their contribution was important for their team.
We will look at the top five bowling performances in this World Cup.
1. Shaheen Afridi
The best performances in bowling were from Shaheen Afridi who trembled Bangladesh by getting 6 wickets. At the start of the World Cup, he wasn’t taken to runs, then he was ruled out of the playing eleven. He came back and helped his team in winning the last three matches. He took 6 wickets in the last league match of Bangladesh and Pakistan and gave only 35 runs. His swinging Yorkers were a delight to watch throughout the World Cup.
2. Mitchell Starc
This man has again become the most wicket-taker in the World Cup tournament. He was the man of the tournament in 2015 world Cup for his bowling. Starc took 27 wickets in 10 matches but his wickets against New Zealand was the most dangerous one. He took 5 wickets and gave only 26 runs and ensured a win for his team.
3. Mohammad Amir
How could be he not in a list of best bowling performances? One of the best swing bowlers of this generation was gold for his team. He took 17 wickets in 8 matches in the tournament. The best performance of the left-arm was against mighty Australia. He took 5 wickets and gave only 30 runs in a high scoring match where other bowlers went for plenty.
4.Shakib Al Hasan
One thing common in all of these bowlers are, they all are left-arm bowlers. The only difference is that Shakib is a spin bowler. He was amazing with the bat and also with the ball. His figures of 5 for 29 against Afghanistan is the best performance by a spin bowler in the tournament.
5. Jimmy Neesham
He is also a left-arm batsman but not the bowler. Neesham bowls with the right hand and he was very effective in middle overs for New Zealand. Jimmy’s performance against Afghanistan is the best one. He took 5 wickets and spent only 31 runs. He might not possess a threat with his speed but accuracy and swing was his trade secret.
