Run- fest is what we saw this year in IPL
After more than 42 days of thrilling cricket, we are into playoffs of IPL 2019. Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad have made into playoffs. Kolkata Knight Riders, Kings Eleven Punjab, Rajasthan Royals, and Royal Challengers Bangalore couldn’t make into final four. We saw some unbelievable innings and some extraordinary hitting this year. Andre Rusell made more than 500 runs with a strike rate of more than 205. He hit 52 sixes this year which is only 7 less than the all-time record of Chris Gayle. The West Indies opening batsman smashed 59 sixes in the year 2012.
Players who did well!
We saw David Warner’s consistency who scored 692 runs before going for national duty. KL Rahul, Shubhman Gill, S Gopal, R Chahar, Khaleel Ahmed, Hardik Pandya, Kagiso Rabada, Imran Tahir are some other names who made a mark this IPL. MS Dhoni has played brilliantly this season and has finished matches for his team a few times. Virat Kohli scored runs but our expectation from Virat is set too high that even though he plays good cricket, we think he played average.
CSK: The most experienced side this year
CSK is the most experienced side and almost all of their regular players have played on the International front. The biggest strength of CSK is their all-time best captain MS Dhoni and their spinners. With likes of Harbhajan Singh, Imran Tahir, Ravindra Jadeja, and Mitchell Santner, this is one of the best spin attacks in this IPL. Playing in knock out games needs experience and temperament. Dhoni’s team has experienced batting order consisting Shane Watson, Faf Du Plessis, Ambati Raydu, Kedar Jadhav, Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni who knows how to play in big games. Three-time IPL champions have played 9 seasons of IPL and have reached playoffs every time and reached 7 times in finals. They are the most consistent side in IPL history.
MI: The most balanced side this year
MI is the most balanced side in this IPL. Their bowling attack has the ability to dismantle any International team. They have Mitchell McClenaghan, Jasprit Bumrah and Lasith Malinga who know where to bowl in big matches against big players. We saw how Lasith Malinga got rid of Andre Russell in last league match. The top order has been not been firing to their potential, however, middle order of Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, and Keiron Pollard have taken care of batting very well. Mukesh Ambani’s team has won the IPL thrice and have the potential, skill, and talent to win it for the 4th time. They are the second most consistent side of IPL.
Chennai and Mumbai will lock horns in the qualifier 1 where the winner will reach finals. The losing team will have a second chance which they will face the winner of the eliminator match. If MI loses in qualifier 1 they have the firepower to win Qualifier 2.
