‘What if I spit on Sindhu’: Malayalam director’s FB post

Sanal Kumar Sasidharan, the Malayalam film director’s ‘humorous take on India’s first female silver medalist, PV Sindhu, has recently received widespread flak.

Sanal had said that he would spit on the Olympic silver medalist PV Sindhu. While the entire nation has been celebrating on Sindhu’s historic achievement, the filmmaker wrote this on his Facebook in Malayalam, “Everyone is celebrating Sindhu’s achievement now. But, What if I spit on this? What is there to celebrate much about?”

His post has pulled in a lot of criticism as social media have lambasted his distasteful remark.

Elaborating on the unsavoury remark in the subsequent Facebook clarification, Sasidharan called it the ‘black humour’ that eventually people failed to comprehend.

Patronisers of the sport are not convinced, though, and are no more in no mood to let go of their umbrage.

Sasidharan has acclaimed Malayalam movies like ‘Ozhivudivasathe Kali’ and ‘Oraalppokkam’.
