3 people died and 27 injured so far in Guwahati in CAA protest
The North-eastern part of the country continues to sizzle as death toll in Assam reaches 3 in the anti-Citizenship Amendment Act protest. Two were reported dead earlier, and now, one more injured was declared dead in the Guwahati Medical Hospital and College on Saturday evening. However, good news for Guwahati and near locals is that curfew has been relaxed in Guwahati, Dibrugarh and some more places for a few hours.
Locals lit up streets with candles and earthen lamps from Hatigaon to Namghar in Guwahati Saturday in memory of 17-year-old Sam Stafford, who lost his life in an alleged firing incident in the city two days ago.

As per Guwahati Medical College Hospital, 3 people have died and 27 people have been injured so far. Protests broke out in various parts of Assam following the passage of Citizenship Amendment Bill 2019 in both the Lower and Upper House of the Parliament. It became an Act after President signed it on November 12.

Road blockades at several places in West Bengal in CAA protest
Sporadic incidents of violence were reported from North 24 Parganas, Nadia and Howrah districts of West Bengal which is witnessing protests against the CAA, police said on Saturday.
Various important roads in Kalyani and Amdanga of the Nadia and North 24 Parganas districts were blocked by protestors. The police said that protestors also blocked tracks of railway stations.
Protestors shouted slogans against the Narendra Modi government and organized road blockades in the Domjur area of Howrah district.
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal released a video message and asked all the sections of society to thwart the elements who are misleading the people on CAA and indulging in violence. He tweeted a video and wrote “We are committed to protecting all genuine Indian citizens and the rights of the people of Assam. I call upon all sections of the society to thwart the elements who are misleading the people on #CAA & indulging in violence and together continue the growth journey of Assam”, said in the post.
