Amit Sharma of News 24 was allegedly attacked for covering an incident
An Uttar Pradesh Journalist has been beaten by the group of the GRP personnel in Shamli district. The incident took place when News 24 Journalist Amit Sharma went to cover the derailment of a goods train near Dhimanpura.
Allegedly the policeman was not wearing his uniform and was in plain clothes when he attacked the journalist. The ANI posted a video on their twitter where a person is clearly seen beating the people.

It is alleged that ‘When the journalist started recording the video of the derailed train, police officers started snatching the camera of several journalists. In the process, Amit’s camera fell and while he bent down to lift his camera, a GRP personnel came and started hitting him.’
GRP personnel were in plain clothes when they attacked
“They were in plain clothes and the camera fell down, when I picked up the camera, they abused and started beating me. They locked me and even urinated in my mouth”, Journalist said after the incident.
Two officers of GRP has been suspended
Rakesh Kumar, GRP SHO and constable Sanjay Kumar have been suspended over the incident. Both have been called to headquarter for the inquiry.
According to sources, while the journalist was locked up, several other journalists came reached the police station and said we were also reporting, lock us too.
According to media reports, the whole incident took place at the Dhimanpura railway crossing in the Shamli district of Uttar Pradesh. Few coaches of a goods train derailed while changing the tracks.
