Top 10 Bollywood Actors with the highest number of films

Here is a list of Bollywood actors with the highest number of films to date. Nope, Akshay is not at no. 1

When it comes to actors with the highest number of films in Bollywood, Akshay Kumar is the number one nominee. But to your utter surprise, Akshay is not the actor with the highest number of films. Two other actors have secured the top two positions.  

Here is a list of actors with the highest number of films in Bollywood till date:

Amitabh Bachchan 

Sadi ke mahanayak, Amitabh Bachchan has rightly earned the sobriquet for a number of reasons. At the age of 80, Bachchan is still willing to work and never took a break from the industry. He debuted as a voice narrator in the National Award-winning film ‘Bhuvan Shome’. He acted for the first time as the main lead in the film ‘Saat Hindustani’. However, stardom was not very far from Bachchan. In 1971, he played the critical role of a doctor in the film ‘Anand’. Bachchan shared the screen space with the superstar of the time Rajesh Khanna and the world got to know, the next superstar was born. 

With a whopping score of 200 movies, Bachchan bagged many national and international honours. Right now, Amitabh is on complete bed rest due to the recent mishap on the sets of ‘Project K’. 

Govinda 

Hailed for comic timing, expressions and dancing skills, Govinda was the No. 1 choice for filmmakers in the 90s and has a three-decade-long career. In an interview, Govinda admitted that he used to sign several films in a day and there was a day when 70 scripts were waiting for him to cast him. Due to the non-availability of dates, he had to turn down many good roles. Still, the actor managed to deliver 165 films and bagged the second position in the list of actors with the highest number of films. 

He debuted with the film ‘Tan-Badan’ directed by his uncle Anand. 

Akshay Kumar

Well, it could be a surprise for many how Akshay Kumar is at number 3 after delivering approximately 5-6 movies in a year. Adding to your surprise, in the year 1994, 11 films were released at the box office starring Akshay Kumar in the lead role. Whooh! 

Khiladi Kumar started his film career with the film ‘Saugandh’ opposite Raakhee and is still not ready to retire. However, we believe that soon we will have to update the list because there are 11 projects in his kitty waiting for a release. Till now Kumar has done 144 films. 

Sanjay Dutt

Son of popular filmy parents, Sunil Dutt and Nargis Dutt, Sanjay Dutt made his acting debut with the film ‘Rocky’. While Sanjay was giving back-to-back hits, controversies were also just behind the success. Dutt was charged under the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act in 1993 and even sent to jail.

Sanjay’s love life too was always in controversy. His first wife Richa Sharma died of a brain tumour in 1996. He tried to revive his love life with Rhea Pillai but got divorced in 2005. However, Dutt finally settled down with Manyata tying the knot in 2008. Sanjay has done 133 movies to date. 

Ajay Devgn

Vishal Veeru Devgan popularly known as Ajay Devgn began his professional career with ‘Phool Aur Kaante’ and bagged the Best Male Debut Filmfare award. With 124 films Ajay Devgn has seen a successful career in Bollywood. On the work front, His film ‘Maidaan’ is all set to release in June. 

Salman Khan 

Salman Khan is one of the highest-paid actors in Bollywood. For the past decade, you can see Salman Bhai trying his hand at everything, from hosting reality shows to playback singing, producing, and directing films. 

The actor is also considered a big philanthropist and godfather to many newcomers in Bollywood. Khan has done a total of 121 films. He started his acting career in a supporting role in ‘Biwi Ho Toh Aisi’. Soon he secured a lead role in Suraj Barjatya’s ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’ which became the biggest hit of the year. 

Since then, Bhaijaan never looked back and became lakh dilo ki dhadkan. 

Anil Kapoor

From a child artist to the main lead, Anil Kapoor has been relevant in the film industry since 1980. He debuted with a small role in ‘Hamare Tumhare’ but soon got a lead role in a Telugu Movie Vamsa Vruksham. After struggling for 3 years, Kapoor finally got a lead role in the Hindi film, ‘Woh Saat Din’. Kapoor had done at least 100 films. 

Shahrukh Khan

It is still hard to get over the hangover of Pathaan! Shahrukh started his career on the small screen and was happy in his world. Do you know, SRK thought he was not good enough to act in films? However, he was destined to be the Badshah of the film industry. 

Destiny landed him in the Maya Nagri and he signed 4 films. His first film was ‘Deewana’ which was released in 1992. To our surprise, SRK has done only 97 films to date. 

Saif Ali Khan

The Chote Nawab is the son of cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan and veteran actress Sharmila Tagore. From visiting sets to acting in movies, Saif entered the film industry with Yash Chopra directed ‘Parampara’. 

Khan has always led a luxurious life; still, he managed to pull off roles which required certain excellence in rural touch and demanded a lot of hard work. He has done 71 films in his career. 

Aamir Khan

Aamir is very meticulous when it comes to selecting movies. Still, he managed to secure the 10th position on the list of actors with the highest number of films. Aamir Khan has just 58 films in his kitty but all very promising ones, to name a few– Taare Zameen Par, 3 Idiots and Dangal. 

However, there are many other veteran actors like Johnny Lever, Paresh Rawal, Shakti Kapoor and many other talented actors who were in almost every film.
