SurajKund Mela 2020: How can you reach there and what are the main attractions this year?
SurajKund Mela which is also known as an International crafts fair is back. The fair will begin from February 2 and will continue till February 16. The fair promises to be bigger and better than the last season. SurajKund Mela has now become an annual affair. It was first hosted in the year 1987. With the advent of spring, the festival attracts a lot of people from all across the globe.
The festival is jointly hosted by the SurajKund Mela Authority and Union Ministries of Tourism, Textile Culture, External Affairs, Tourism Department, Haryana Government and Haryana Corporation. The main objective of the mela is to promote handlooms and handicrafts from all across the country. The Mela also gives a platform to people who want to showcase their talent.
The event is a perfect blend of art, craft, dance and music, and much more. It is the 34th edition of the fair and it shouldn’t be missed. Every year one state is chosen as the spotlight of the fair. Notably, this year Himachal Pradesh has been chosen. It will be the theme state of the SurajKund Mela 2020. Apart from Indian states, 20 countries will also participate in the mela this year.

Date & Timings: From February 6 to 16, 2020. The festival will remain open from 10:30 am to 8:30 am.
The theme of the year is Himachal Pradesh. The state has been selected to be at the spotlight in 2020. The art, craft, music and food of the state will be promoted this year in the SurajKund Mela.

History of SurajKund
SurajKund literally means Lake of Sun in an artificial Kund . It is built in the backdrop of the Aravalli Hills. It is believed that it was built in the Tomar Dynasty as they were the followers of God Sun.
