The 33rd Suraj Kund Mela started off with a bang in Faridabad. It is a 15- day – long festival that started on February 1 and will end on February 17.  It is organized every year by the Suraj Kund Mela Authority and Haryana Tourism in collaboration with Union Ministries, Textiles, Culture, and External Affairs.

Notably, this year the state of Maharashtra is the theme state and Thailand is the partner nation for the Suraj Kund Mela 2019. This weekend drop all your plans and visit Suraj Kund Mela because a lot is happening there.

Drawing competitions, cultural events, painting competitions, and there is so much that is happening there. Each state has its own stall and they are showcasing their specialty.  You can find Chanderi stuff at Madhya Pradesh Stall, Phulkari at the Punjab stall, and also one can find some trendy leather bags at the Mela.

Talking about Haryana, visitors are welcomed with a unique idea called ‘Apna Ghar’. One can find the real lifestyle of Haryana at this stall.  The open Veranda and room reflect the real persona of Haryana. Haryana has become the main attraction for the visitors at the Mela. From costumes, metal ware to earthenware to agricultural tools, there is Haryana displayed in every corner of Apna Ghar.

Notably, a fashion show was also organized which showcased the ethnic costumes of Haryana and it was extremely loved by the people present there.  A lot of livewire performances are also taking place at the Mela.  Folk singers from Rajasthan won many hearts with their traditional songs like ‘Aaomere Desh’ along with some Bollywood Tadka.  The power packed performances were loved by the visitors.
