Shafali Verma is being called lady-Sehwag for her batting approach in powerplay
Till Virendra Sehwag came to play in the International cricket, first few overs meant blocking the balls until the ball loses its shine. But when Sehwag started opening for India, he changed the rule. He started hitting the ball to demolish the shine from the ball and remove the possibility of swing. He started a new trend, and Shafali Verma is doing the same for Women cricket.
Women’s Cricket if compared to Men’s cricket, seems 20 years behind in terms of the approach of batting. The strike rate of 120 for a batter is considered very good in women T20 cricket, which is below-par in men’s cricket right now. Smriti Mandhana is considered one of the most explosive batter in the Indian team and her strike rate in T20 is 119.12.
