Paksitan Wali Gali was named after few people moved from Pakistan during partition
Residents of ‘Pakistan Wali Gali’ in Greater Noida urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to change the name of the colony on Tuesday. Residents of the colony said that they do not get access to basic amenities provided by the government because of the neighbouring country’s name in it.
The name of the place was kept ‘Pakistan Wali Gali’ after some people settled down there from Pakistan during the partition.
Locals say that it’s not their fault if their ancestors are from Pakistan
Local residents have been saying that what wrong they did, if some of the people came from another country and settled here. They say that it’s not their fault if their ancestors came from the neighbouring country.
“Only four of our ancestors came from Pakistan a long time ago. In our Aadhar card, the address is written ‘Pakistan Wali Gali” which creates a problem in getting the basic amenities. Why are we being segregated from the country if we are the part of the country?” a local said.
People face problem in getting employment because of the name Pakistan Wali Gali: Local resident
A resident from the colony Bhupesh Kumar said “We do not get employment because ‘Pakistan Wali Gali’ is written in our Aadhar Card. People of the colony spend lots of money on education for the young kids but they don’t get employment. We are very troubled. The people of colony want our Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to change the name of the colony”.
“We are sure that if PM Modi hears us, he will definitely take action on it. People of this colony are treated badly as if they belong to another country.” Another resident said.
There are about 60-70 houses in the colony who want the change in the name of their colony so that they don’t feel segregated and neglected.
