Ravish Kumar wins Asia’s premiere size Magsaysay Award for journalism

Ravish Kumar has been awarded for his ethical and brave journalism


The famous Hindi news anchor Ravish Kumar has won Ramon Magsaysay Award for his ethical and professional journalism of higher standards. He has been named for the prestigious award for harnessing journalism to give voice to voiceless. Ravish is amongst five other recipients to receive this hoour.

Ravish Kumar was named for the award along with four other people

Ramon Magsaysay Award is Asia’s Premiere Prize and Highest Honor which celebrates the greatness of spirit and transformative leadership in Asia. Angkhana Neelapaijit from Thailand, Ko Swe Win from Myanmar, Kim Jong-Ki from South Korea, Raymundo Pujante Cayabyab from the Philippines are four other people who have named for the prestigious award.

The board members of Ramon Magsaysay Award 2019 took ethical, courageous journalism of Kumar into account while judging him for the award. Moral courage in standing up for independence, integrity, truth, and principle belief which the 44 years journalist has shown in all 23 years of career.  The citation for Ravish Kumar by Ramon Magsaysay read  “Sober, incisive and well informed”.

Arvind Kejriwal congratulated and welcomed the journalist in club

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal congratulated the Hindi journlaist for his achievement and wrote “Delighted to hear the great news of Ravish Kumar being announced 2019 Ramon Magsaysay award. I welcome Ravish to the club of Magsaysay awardees and hope to see his brave journalism go from strength to strength in these difficult times. Many congratulations my friend. Well done.”

Apart from the anchor of NDTV India Prime Time, Kiran Bedi, Arvind Kejriwal, RK Laxman, Arun Shorie, P Sainath have also won the prestigious award before.

Ravish Kumar has been associated with NDTV since 1996 and is one of the most famous news anchors in India. He currently hosts Prime Time at NDTV India where he talks about various political and social issues.
