As part of voter awareness & motivation initiatives, Election Rath was launched with multimedia messages to reach out to voters. Twenty-one canopies have been set up near the 21 polling locations for voter awareness. Banners & posters are displayed at prominent locations, including milk booths providing all polling-related information. Information is supplied on QR codes as well.
Munadis and street plays are being carried out at all the polling locations and crowded places to create awareness & motivation to participate in the festival of democracy. Shops have been provided with stamps of “Vote on 23rd June” to be stamped on every bill. The schools’ Electoral Literacy Clubs (ELC) was roped in for the initiatives.
An oath was administered by the Head of schools (HOS) in the constituency to the children so that all voters could be reached. They will appeal to the elders in the family and neighborhood to go and cast their vote on 23rd June 2022. BLOs also have gone door to door and motivated voters to take a ‘Shapath’ for voting. Behaviour change communication and one-on-one counseling are the new initiatives adopted this time to positively impact the voters’ attitude so that they turn up in huge numbers on poll day.
All polling stations have assured minimum facilities, and 100% webcasting has been implemented. A crèche facility is also provided at all polling stations to ease mothers who come to vote with their young children. Availability of toys and toffees has been made at these crèche facilities. The polling stations showcase the best synergy between green Earth initiatives and technology (webcasting / PDMS). Every polling station reflects the nature of ‘Accessible Elections’ and that ‘No voter is left behind.’
These are times of pandemic, and the health challenge that COVID-19 poses cannot be neglected. Therefore all polling stations will follow COVID protocols in place. The last one hour will be used for voters who are COVID positive and in quarantine and wish to vote. CATS ambulances are arranged for COVID-positive voters and this facility will be provided by the health teams of the New Delhi district. COVID Suraksha kits will also be given to 80+ voters who come to vote.
New Delhi district administration is making all-out efforts to increase voter participation and make these by-polls memorable with a high voter turnout.
Go and make a contribution in nation building!
