On the occasion of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar’s 125th birth anniversary, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the inventor of the Indian Constitution was a ‘Vishwa Manav’, who had worked for the poor and the marginalized his entire life.
“On his Jayanti, I bow to the venerable Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar. Jai Bhim.,” Prime Minister Modi tweeted. The PM also said the he was a man who believed in the power of education with a unique economic vision and strong emphasis on welfare.
Among various functions to commemorate this day, the main event will take place in the lawns of the Parliament house complex where political leaders and people from different walks of life will be paying floral tributes at the statue of Dr Ambedkar.
The day is also marked as Social Harmony Day. Congratulating people on this occasion, Social justice and Empowerment Minister Thaawar Chand Gehlot said that Babasaheb laid the foundation of social reforms in the country in true sense, adding that people should resolve to strengthen social harmony in the country which will be a true tribute to him.
