1. Indian Railways

1.4 million Employees work in Indian railways, which is equal to the entire population of many countries like Mauritius, Cyprus, Luxembourg, Iceland, Trinidad and Tobago, Estonia, Bahrain, Monaco, Vatican City and many more.

2. Shani Shingnapur, Maharashtra

Shani Shingnapur or Sonia is a village situated in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra. The village is known for its popular Shani temple, Shani is the Hindu god of the planet. Another fact that makes it even more amazing is that there are no doors in any of the houses or shops and halls. Villagers never keep their valuable things in lock. No theft has been reported yet in the village.

3. Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra

Mumbai is the city which never sleeps. Because of its 18.4 million population, Mumbai is very congested. So, to overcome this problem, Government decided to build a new city near to original Mumbai and with the name ‘Navi Mumbai’. It is the largest planned township on the earth which was developed in 1972.

4. Most Mosques in the world

80.5 % Population of India practice Hinduism but the country has more Mosques than any 100 % Islam following country. India has 300,000 active mosques, which cannot be found even in a Muslim world.

5. Biggest gatherings in Kumbh Mela

Kumbh mela is a mass Hindu pilgrimage of faith in which Hindu gather to bathe in the sacred river Ganga. More than 100 million people visit Kumbh Mela and make this Festival, the biggest peaceful gathering in the world. Kumbh Mela is held after every three years at four different places, consecutively, one by one, which are Allahabad, Haridwar, Ujjain and Nasik.

6. Terrorist charged for entering the platform without ticket!

Ajmal Kasab was a member of the Lashkar-e-Taiba Islamist group and a part of 2008 Mumbai terrorist attacks in India. He killed more than 50 people. Ajmal was the only attacker captured alive. Mumbai police had filed case against him for entering CST Railway Station of Mumbai without any ticket!

7. First Rocket of India was brought on cycle

Our country is now one of the most advanced countries in the world. But we brought our first rocket on cycle. India Space Organization (ISRO) developed first rocket of India with collaboration from other research organization and they had used cycle as their medium of transportation.

8. Varanasi, Oldest city of the world

Varanasi is considered as the oldest city of the world because it was visited by Buddha in 500 BC.

9. Mango, the National Fruit

Worldwide, 40% of the mangoes are grown in India.

India is the world’s biggest producer and consumer of mangoes.12 million tons of mangoes grow in India every year, which is equivalent to 80,000 blue whales in the Pacific and Atlantic Ocean.

There are several hundred varieties of mangoes in India of with more than 30 available, commercially.
