The Korean automobile giant Hyundai has decided to enter the sedan segment of automobile industry in India.
The Grand i10 will now be seen as a sedan and will attract the domestic buyers.
It is assumed that the model will be launched in February at the Auto Expo 2014
Hyundai is planning to promulgate its new automobile with grand opening.
Hyundai has been successful in fulfilling in Indian consumers and has been the climbing the success ladder at amazing speed.
The company is however trailing behind in the sedan section.
‘The roofline is expected to bend and form the boot rather than raking down, which will be a distinguishing feature, separating both cars in the terms of designing. The upcoming sedan will share its engine with the ongoing hatchback, having the options of 1.1-litre diesel and 1.2-litre petrol. Also, rumor mill has hinted that i20’s 1.4-litre diesel might also be tapped after some retuning in the new sedan. Transmission options of 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic might also be available, with latter gearbox only melded with the petrol version.’
The sedan will be priced between Rs. 5 lakh and Rs. 7.7 lakh.
Grand i10 sedan will give tough competition to Toyota Etios, Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire, Honda Amaze and Chevrolet Sail.
Except Chevrolet Sail, the remaining three have already established in the Indian market.
