The current outbreak of Swine Flu in the national capital is really alarming. The H1N1 Virus has created havoc in Delhi.  BJP Chief Amit Shah is also down with Swine Flu. He is getting treatment in AIIMS for the same. Here is how to combat Swine Flu naturally.  Swine Flu is a respiratory infection arising from an influenza strain in Pigs. It is a communicable disease and can become fatal if not treated on time.  Irrespective of age or gender, Swine Flu is a disease which weakens the immune system.


The worst part of the disease is that the symptoms of Swine Flu are similar to common Flu. Such as:

  • Fever
  • Headache
  • Cough
  • Weakness
  • Body ache
  • Difficulty in breathing
  • Chills
  • Sore throat

History of Swine Flu

The disease was detected in April 2009 in a 10 – year –old girl in California. Notably, Swine Flu was declared a global epidemic in June 2009 by the World Health Organisation.  It was estimated that around 61 million people in the United States got infected with the virus, and it claimed 12, 469 lives.

Causes of Swine Flu

Swine Flu is spread through pigs.Type A influenza viruses have the ability to mix with other strains, creating new a strain, this was the biggest reason behind the epidemic of 2009 -2010. The H1N1 virus is a type A virus. Well, influenza circulates among pigs throughout the year but it becomes common during the late fall and winter. Sometimes Pigs can pass this flu to humans who come in contact with them. During its first breakout, there was no treatment available. Now, it is considered as the common flu but it is important to treat it on time.

How to treat Swine Flu naturally?

1. Hydration

It is very important to stay hydrated.  Swine Flu can give you vomiting, diarrhea, excessive sweat, and frequent urination. Your body can go through some serious loss of water. It is important a lot of water. This will help you to flush out all the toxins from your body.

2. Turmeric Milk aka Haldi wala Doodh

Turmeric is available in our homes. It has anti-inflammatory properties.  It is a natural antioxidant. We all use it to treat common flu. So all you need to do is just add a pinch of turmeric in warm milk. Drink it every night. This will keep Swine Flu infection at bay.

3. Indian Gooseberry ( Amla)

It is a fruit rich in Vitamin C. Amla can instantly boost your immunity. Add this to your diet to keep all kind of infections at bay, especially Swine Flu. You can eat it or you can drink its juice.

4. Tulsi ( Basil)

We all know the medicinal properties of Tulsi. It is more than a religious plant. It keeps your throat and lungs clean.  Tulsi also strengthens your immune system against Swine Flu.

5. Garlic

It is a very versatile herb. Allicin in garlic stimulates antioxidants in the body.It also improves the overall immunity of your body. All you need to do is swallow two 2 garlic pods with warm water empty stomach every morning.


Swine Flu is completely curable. It is important to treat it on time and as they say, Prevention is better than cure.  You can add all these things to your diet to keep Swine Flu at bay.  Hygiene is also another important thing that you should keep in mind.
